Abstract. This talk is a survey of some of the advanced mathematics used in the modern entertainment industry in both audio, video, and animation, using examples from the speaker's 35-year career in professional audio to demonstrate some of the advances and mathematical tools. This will include a survey of some of the tools used in what is now called "big data", where viewing patterns are combined with high-order statistics to predict viewing patterns. Many of the mathematical and statistical tools have been developed in the last 20 years and continue to be an area of very rapid advance.
