Abstract. Modular forms are central objects of study in
number theory. These functions contain a wealth of arithmetic
information in their Fourier expansions, and also tend to be
closely related to various geometric objects (such as elliptic
curves, abelian varieties and even motives!). In this talk we
shall study certain algebras which are naturally associated to
modular forms. These algebras are the rings of self maps of
the underlying geometric object. We will try and aim the talk at
a broad audience.
