Abstract.
We will discuss various problems encountered in the fields of brain mapping
and neuroimaging. Problems that can be addressed by designing
mathematical models, which in turn may be tested by computational methods and
validated via neuroscientific expertise. Such problems include data
acquisition, denoising, registration, geometrical modeling, statistical
analysis, visualization and result interpretation.
Will focus on the problem of efficient signal representation and
quantitative evaluation of different 3D image registration methods. 3D
brain atlas construction and utilization will also be presented in the
context of MRI, PET and SPECT data from elderly, normal control and dementia
patients.
