ALGEBRAIC GEOMETRY
Amod Agashe
This is the webpage for my project on writing an online book tentatively
titled "A motivated introduction to algebraic geometry". It will be based
on a graduate course that I taught at Florida State University, whose
goal is to introduce the language and techniques of varieties and schemes,
and some major results (in particular Serre duality) with good motivation
and assuming minimial background. The prerequisites are just a one to
two semester graduate algebra sequence (groups, rings, ideals, modules;
no field theory needed); in particular I do not require the
reader to have taken a course in commutative
algebra.
For now, you may view the notes taken by students so far (note: I have not
proofread them, and they will certainly need some corrections and
expansion)
on the course webpage.
