Computer Codes for the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology Publication
The computer programs below are for
Bulletin of Mathematical Biology, vol. 70,
pp. 1251-1271, 2008. They are for the analysis of different SERCA pump
isoforms on the electrical activity and calcium dynamics of a model beta
cell. The programs run with the XPPAUT computer software.
XPPAUT is free, and runs on Unix, Linux, and Windows machines.
It can be downloaded from the website of
Bard Ermentrout .
- The full beta-cell model.
This program has electrical, calcium, glycolytic, and mitochondrial
components. It was used to make Figures 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Full.ode
- The calcium subsystem.
This has only the calcium subsystem, and also has an expression for
the quasi-equilibrium cytosolic calcium concentration.
It was used to make Figure 6 and some of the curves in Figure 7.
calcium.ode
- The calcium subsystem.
This has an expression for the quasi-equilibrium cytosolic calcium
concentration. It also has an ODE for the ER calcium concentration
and an analytical expression for the mean ER calcium.
It was used to make some of the curves in Figure 7.
mean_Cer.ode
- The electrical and calcium subsystems.
The metabolic equations are not included.
This was used to make Figures 8-11.
